Although the stock market saw a volatile week, the bond market and mortgage interest rates were very quiet with very little movement.  Most of the economic indicators came in as expected and on target.  As a result, there was very little change in mortgage interest rates during the week.  Next week the following events will occur and economic data will be released which could impact mortgage rates:

  1. The Housing Starts report will be released on Tuesday;
  2. The Existing Home Sales report will be released on Wednesday and the Federal Reserve will meet on Wednesday with the expectation that short term rates will be increased;
  3. The Core PCE Price Index and the Durable Orders report will come out on Friday.
