There were two events that had a slight impact on mortgage interest rates this week. First, the information coming out of the Wednesday Federal Reserve meeting was slightly negative for mortgage rates. Ongoing conflict in North Korea and the market reaction to it offset the impact of the Federal Reserve news and mortgage interest rates ended the week unchanged from last week.
Next week the following events will occur and economic data will be released that may have an impact on mortgage interest rates:
- The New Home Sales report will be released on Tuesday;
- The Pending Home Sales report and the Durable Orders report will be released on Wednesday;
- The Core PCE Index will be released on Friday;
- Various members of the Federal Reserve Board will speak next week, including Janet Yellen the head of the Federal Reserve who will speak on Tuesday.
